Device Structure

The chip uses a PLD architecture that integrates logic array blocks and configurable interconnects. The 68-pin PLCC enables easy mounting and sufficient interface capacity. J-lead configuration supports secure surface mounting on PCBs. Supports up to 57 general-purpose I/O pins for flexible circuit connections.

Performance Characteristics

Stable operation in industrial temperature ranges (-40°C to 85°C). Supports supply voltage range common in legacy systems (4.5V–5.5V). Logic density is moderate, with about 1200 gates and 295 logic array/control blocks, enough for basic custom logic and glue logic tasks. Fast reconfiguration compared to standard fixed logic.

Application Environments

Ideal for industrial, telecom, automotive, and legacy embedded systems where customized logic, parallel processing, or prototyping is needed. Can be used for hardware acceleration, I/O expansion, or interface adaptation in older systems. Obsolete but still stocked for maintenance or production of equipment from the ACT™ 1 generation. Not recommended for new designs due to obsolete status.

If you need a low- to mid-density FPGA for simple programmable logic with a 5V supply and through-hole or surface mount (PLCC) assembly, this device is a match. Check operating temperature and voltage compatibility with your application. For new designs, verify long-term availability or prefer newer Microsemi/Microchip solutions.

Usage Considerations

Not lead-free, so not suitable for all RoHS-restricted environments. Needs careful moisture management (MSL 3). Ensure equipment matches the 68-PLCC footprint. Obsolescence means future availability may be limited; plan for end-of-life or migration. Cannot verify DiGi-Electronics Programmability; contact support for this feature.
