Will Apple be made in Vietnam? Another Apple foundry plans to move production lines outside the mainland to build a factory in Vietnam

According to a Bloomberg report, Bloomberg Information quoted a source who reported that Pegatron plans to build a factory in Vietnam, becoming the latest company to seek production line diversification, deploy Southeast Asia, and move production lines out of mainland China's Apple foundry.

Sources point out that Pegatron is looking for a new plant location in northern Vietnam and has rented another facility in the northern city of Haiphong. It is reported that Pegatron will produce stylus for Samsung Electronics' smart phone at this location.

In fact, it is not surprising that Pegatron set up a plant in Southeast Asia. As early as last November, Pegatron CEO Liao Cizheng stated that capacity expansion outside the mainland, including Taiwan and Batam, Indonesia It has been put into production, and it is not excluded that there will be investment plans in India and Vietnam. The focus is to meet the needs of customers and choose the best place to invest.

Pegatron is one of Apple's important foundries. At present, Pegatron takes about 30% of Apple's assembly orders.

Since last year, affected by various factors such as international economic and trade frictions and tariff costs, Apple has repeatedly asked its two major foundries, Foxconn and Pegatron, to move iPhone production locations out of China.

Among other Apple foundries, GoerTek is currently manufacturing AirPods in Vietnam, and Compal and Lixun Precision have also set up factories in Vietnam.
