AMD launches second-generation Xiaolong processor-based N2D virtual machine test version on Google compute engine

AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) and Google Cloud today announced the launch of a test version of the N2D virtual machine on the Google Compute Engine using the second-generation AMD EPYC processor. The N2D virtual machine family is a great choice for customers running general-purpose applications and high-performance workloads that require balanced computing and memory.

N2D virtual machines are designed to provide customers with:

· The high-performance second-generation AMD EPYC processor provides customers with greater flexibility to choose the optimal virtual machine to meet their workloads, and brings Coremark benchmark performance up to 39% compared to similar instances. A savings of up to 13% can be achieved compared to N-series examples.

128 and 224 virtual processor configuration options that provide up to 70% increase in memory bandwidth over existing similar virtual machines in the Google Compute Engine for high-performance computing (HPC) workloads that require high memory bandwidth.

· Higher platform memory bandwidth and core count. Compared with Google's current similar virtual machine processor, the performance is improved by 100% on multiple benchmark tests including Gromacs and NAMD.

Forrest Norrod, AMD's senior vice president and general manager of the Data Center and Embedded Solutions Group, said: "Global cloud providers and hosters recognize the excellent core expansion, huge memory bandwidth, and significant reduction of second-generation AMD EPYC processors TCO and record performance. AMD and Google work closely on these initial virtual machines to ensure that Google Cloud customers have a high-performance, cost-effective user experience across multiple workload environments. We will continue to work together And continue to provide this perfect experience to our customers this year and beyond. "

AMD EPYC processor empowers modern cloud

AMD EPYC processors support more than 120 virtual machines from cloud providers and hosters around the world, giving end customers access to powerful, cost-effective, and flexible virtual machine products.

The beta version of the N2D virtual machine on Google Cloud Platform has been provided in us-central1, asia-southeast1 and europe-west4, and more regions will be launched in succession. You can read more about the virtual machine on the Google Cloud Platform blog and visit the Google Cloud Console to start your new experience.
