Vishay Launches Automotive-Grade Surface-Mount Thick-Film Power Resistor with Multi-Pulse Handling Capability in TO-263 (D2PAK) Package

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has announced the release of the D2TO35M, a new automotive-grade surface-mount thick-film power resistor in the TO-263 (D2PAK) package. The Vishay Sfernice D2TO35M is AEC-Q200 certified and features multi-pulse handling capabilities, offering a power dissipation of up to 35 W at a 25 °C case temperature, making it suitable for a wide range of automotive applications.

The new device provides superior power dissipation and stability compared to standard TO-263 (D2PAK) package devices, specifically designed for multi-pulse and repetitive pulse conditions. Under 25 °C, the resistor shows a maximum resistance shift of 2% after 1,000 pulses, with a resistance shift of less than 5% after 100,000 pulses. The on-time is 500 ms, the off-time is 11 s, and the pulse energy is 18.9 J. The device has passed 1,000 rapid change of temperature (RCT) tests and offers a load life of 1,000 hours.

The D2TO35M features a non-inductive design with a resistance range from 10 Ω to 10 kΩ and tolerance options of ±2%, ±5%, and ±10%. It has a thermal resistance of 4.28 °C/W and a temperature coefficient (TCR) of 150 ± ppm/°C. Its operating temperature range is from -55 °C to +175 °C. The device is RoHS-compliant and remains stable under 270 °C/10 s reflow soldering conditions.
