The LX2160-Space is designed for a wide range of computationally intensive aerospace applications, from Earth observation satellites to early warning systems and telecommunications, including data processing for 5G NTN (Non-Terrestrial Network) satellite communications (SatCom). With a performance of 200k DMIPS, this processor is ideal for handling data-intensive and image processing tasks. It integrates a rich set of peripherals and delivers exceptional efficiency, consuming approximately 2W per core. Its compact form factor and optimized power envelope provide embedded engineers with excellent performance for space-constrained designs.
Backed by Teledyne e2v’s 40+ years of expertise in high-reliability digital processing solutions—initially focused on PowerPC processors and now on Arm®—the LX2160 represents a fully MIL-standard-compliant device. The related LX2160-Space is currently under development. Radiation testing is ongoing, and preliminary reports have been shared with customers. Teledyne e2v plans to launch a range of aerospace-grade, radiation-tolerant products, achieving NASA Level 1 radiation specifications, in the second half of 2025.
Thomas Guillemain, Marketing and Business Development Manager for Data Processing Systems, stated:
“We are proud to release engineering samples of the LX2160-Space, marking a significant milestone as we witness strong interest in this device. With telecommunications satellites needing to process more data packets at higher speeds, Earth observation satellites requiring higher sensor resolution and faster frame rates, and the growing data demands of onboard autonomous decision-making—such as running AI algorithms—the LX2160-Space is a highly suitable processing chip for aerospace applications.”
