SK hynix Completes Customer Validation for CXL 2.0-Based DDR5 Module

SK hynix has successfully completed customer validation of its 96GB CMM (CXL Memory Module) DDR5 product, a DRAM solution based on the CXL 2.0 standard.

According to SK hynix, this module is designed for use in server systems and offers a 50% increase in capacity and a 30% boost in bandwidth compared to existing DDR5 modules, supporting data processing speeds of up to 36GB per second. The product is expected to significantly reduce data center construction costs for customers. Following the validation of the 96GB module, the company is now working with additional customers to validate a 128GB version. The module features SK hynix's fifth-generation 10nm-class (1b) 32Gb DDR5 DRAM, delivering an exceptional performance-to-power ratio.

In addition to CXL DRAM development, SK hynix is actively contributing to the growth of the CXL ecosystem. The company has independently developed the Heterogeneous Memory Software Development Kit (HMSDK), optimized specifically for CXL products. Last September, SK hynix successfully integrated HMSDK into Linux, the world’s largest open-source operating system, significantly improving performance in CXL-based systems.
