Kingston Releases New IronKey D300S Hardware Encryption USB Flash Drive

About two years ago, Kingston introduced a hardware-encrypted USB flash drive called the IronKey D300. We were impressed with the FIPS 140-2 Level 3 256-bit AES-XTS encryption. Today, Kingston has introduced the new D300S. Although there is not much difference on the whole, in order to facilitate enterprise management, save time and labor costs, the barcode and serial number are pre-printed on the disk. In addition, the D300S is equipped with a new soft keyboard that provides greater security when decrypted.

The size of the D300S is 77.9 × 22.2 × 12.05 mm (3.06 × 0.9 × 0.47 inches)

As a USB 3.0 hardware-encrypted flash drive, it is compatible with Windows 7 / 8.x / 10, and Mac OS 10.11~10.14 operating systems. Kingston said:

The unique serial number and barcode are printed on the IronKey D300S, allowing administrators to easily identify without the need to plug in a computer, improving asset auditing and management efficiency.

As for the virtual keyboard, it supports the use of a mouse click to enter a password, thereby avoiding hidden dangers such as a keylogger. In addition, it has passed IPX8 waterproof certification (up to 4 feet / 1.2 meters).

Like the D300, the D300S offers capacities ranging from 4 to 128GB.

On devices that support USB 3.0, the 128GB model is capable of 250MB/s read and 85MB/s write performance (80MB/s read and 12MB/s write in 4GB).

Kingston has not disclosed the D300S's listing date and pricing details. We suspect that the new product offer will be the same as the previous generation.
