Apple officially started using its own chips on some Mac hardware. Apple CEO Tim Cook called this "a historic day for the Mac". He detailed the transition to PowerPC, OS X 10 and Intel chips, and announced the future use of Apple’s own chips on the Mac. plan.
Apple said its processors will bring new performance and lower energy consumption. Apple is designing its own SoC series for Mac, with Mac-specific functions, but it is a common architecture across product lines.
While Apple launched its own Arm chip, it also introduced macOS Big Sur, which includes a major redesign of macOS and functional updates to the built-in information and map applications.
According to reports, Apple has tested Arm-based chips on mac computers and found that their performance has greatly improved over Intel's alternatives.
